If you acquired your Cabot property after April
1st this year, you may not receive a property
tax bill from the town this year, EVEN IF THERE
ARE TAXES DUE. State law requires us to
send tax bills to the person(s) who owned the
property on April 1st. Therefore, if any taxes
are due when tax bills are mailed in July, the
bill will go to the previous owner, and may or
may not be forwarded to you.
It is standard procedure for the buyer and
seller to agree at the time of sale who will pay
the current year taxes, and taxes are often
paid at the time of sale. However, if the taxes
have not been paid by the due date in early
November, the delinquent tax collector will
collect the tax from the new owner along with
interest (12% - 18% APR) and penalty (8%).
If you are not sure if your taxes were paid,
please check with the Town Clerk before
November 1st so we can let you know the due
date and any balance due.

Highway Access: A permit is required from the selectboard for
any access to State Highways and all Town roads.
FEE:$22.00
Zoning: No building may commence without a zoning permit.
FEE:$17.00 PLEASE APPLY EARLY FOR PERMITS> Allow at
least 15 days.
Board of Adjustment: All zoning permits referred to the board
of adjustment shall be subject to a fee. FEE:$47.00
Septic Systems: All new septic systems and any alterations to
existing systems require a permit.
FEE:$12.00
Fire Permit: A fire permit is needed for any open burning
except when ground is covered with snow. Permits should be
obtained from a fire warden.
